For a business analyst, how important are opportunities to perform enterprise analysis? For most BAs this work is highly coveted. Who wouldn’t want to ascend beyond the tactical project requirements and become involved in the strategic decisions? Moreover, there is also a sense that the BA can contribute value at that level. This is probably the truer driver.

Kerri Pokorny-Nituch, wife of Fortress VP Jonathan Nituch, has just returned from a service project where her team built a school in Takeo, Cambodia.  Cambodia is one of the poorest nations on earth and 30% of the population lives below the poverty line.  Additionally, residents have to pay for their children to attend primary school.  With no education available to them, Cambodian children are left in a cycle of poverty. Jonathan Nituch recently authored a blog post on why business analysts should pursue certification on The BA Coach.  Business Analysts are facilitators who help organization to understand what their true needs are and recommend solutions that can meet those needs.  This activity is one of Fortress’ core values: matching technical solutions to the customer’s business needs.  In this blog, Jonathan discusses why business analysts should pursue certification through the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) and debunks some myths about certification.
